The EAGE Near Surface Geoscience Conference & Exhibition 2023 was held on September 3-7 in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. The annual meeting provides a platform to discuss the near-surface challenges the world is currently facing.
One professor and two PhD students from the Department of Geophysics were honored to represent the University of Miskolc by presenting their research results in three different sessions covering topics such as geophysics on civil engineering problems, hydrogeophysics and new technologies and research trends:
Endre Nádasi, Ph.D., assistant professor: Evaluation of ground-penetrating radar (GPR) survey for void detection
Moataz Abdelrahman, Ph.D. student: Unsupervised machine learning assisted hydrogeophysical borehole logging inversion for robust aquifer characterization
Rafael Valadez Vergara, Ph.D. student: Assessing Thermal Maturity Levels in Unconventional Hydrocarbon Reservoirs through Interval Inversion and Simulated Annealing
Furthermore, Éva Hartai, Honorary Professor of the University of Miskolc was one of the invited speakers of the Panel Discussion on „Building Public Trust with Near Surface Industries: A Pathway to Rebuilding the Talent Pipeline Needed for a Green Energy Transition
