The Faculty of Earth Science and Engineering at the University of Miskolc reached a high level of acceptance and reputation. The faculty’s infrastructure was highly developed in the last decade and thanks to the good technology the students and lecturers participate in important international and national research projects. The predecessor of the faculty was founded in Selmecbánya in 1735 and then was moved to Sopron in 1919 and later to Miskolc in 1959. The Faculty of Earth Science and Engineering has a very high rate of qualified researchers and lecturers (around 90%) which is one of the best in Hungary. The faculty has outstanding research and educational projects (in the following topics: mining of minerals, raw material preparation, fluid mining, hydrogeology, earth sciences, and waste management) on high quality. The Hungarian Academy of Sciences upholds a research group in our faculty which is the guarantee of the high level research activities.
The Faculty of Earth Science and Engineering possesses a highly developed research infrastructure which is unique in Hungary. There are numerous integrated laboratories: the Mineralogy and Geology, the Geological database development laboratory, the Fluid mining laboratory, and the Environmental science educational and research innovation center.
Thanks to the above listed facilities the Faculty of Earth Science and Engineering is able to be a competitive educational and research institute on the market. The infrastructure and human resources guarantee a very strong future vision for the faculty in the topics of raw materials, energy and water management.
