A memorial meeting was organized on the occasion of the 60th foundation anniversary of the Research Institute of Applied Earth Sciences (AFKI) in the University of Miskolc on 22nd of November in 2017.
The Rector and Chancellor of the University, senior and the current staff members of the Institute and the leaders of the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Engineering attended.
Professor Emeritus István Lakatos PhD. founding staff member and former Director presented his talk about the past decades of the institute from the foundation, then recent director Mátyás Krisztián Baracza PhD. presented the actual state, targets and future tasks. That had been followed by the presentation of Anita Jobbik PhD, head of Department of Reservoir Mechanics and Mining Chemistry, about the largest active research project, the PULSE. Three research modules are included in the mentioned project. which focus on the enhancement of the efficiency of the hydrocarbon’s recovery, energetic utilization of dry and abandoned wells and enhanced yield formation treatments with high efficiency. The meeting had been closed by a talk of Csaba Vörös on behalf of the Department of Instrumentation and Informatics, about their achievements.
The meeting had been followed by a lunch giving opportunity to converse about past, present and future former plans of the institute.
